We have a team of dedicated coaches and assistants who each take care of the various different age sections which are open to all children between the ages of 4-13. No matter the experience or skill Witham Hockey Club is open to everyone, plus your first session with us is free!

When
Sessions are run through the season, which runs from September to April, and take place on Sundays between 10:00-12:00

Further to this a number of tournaments will be held both at home and at other clubs where youngsters get the chance to play in teams against youngsters of a similar age or level from other clubs.

Cost
Junior membership is £30 per year for the first child, and £30 for a 2nd child (3rd+ children are free) - until juniors join the adult playing section of Witham Hockey Club.

The first session is FREE and then £5 a session and £3 for a 2nd children (3rd+ children are free) after that.

FAQs
What equipment does my child need?
We can provide sticks for new starters but in our experience they'll soon want their own. Coaches are able to advise parents on what sticks to buy. Shin pads are essential. Gum shields are highly advisable and of course, suitable clothing depending on the weather.

What if the weather is bad?
If it's not raining, it's not training! In all seriousness, we want to safeguard our youngsters so in the event of very bad weather during a session, coaches will make a decision as to whether the sessions continues, takes a short break or is abandoned. In the winter months, coaches will inspect the pitch early and communicate their decision out to parents and guardians ASAP.

When can my child start to play adult league games?
Junior players generally progress to the adult teams after they have turned 13 and the coaches consider them to be physically ready for the demands of the adult game. At this point, coaches will speak to parents directly and put them in contact with the adult team captains.
