After a long drive to Waltham forest in gameweek 1 Witham welcomed saffron Walden in the second game of the season. The game started positively with Witham strining together a few passes and after 15 minutes it was goalless. It was at this point that Witham made their first sub of the game. Back from injury Sir Eddie Spooner himself comes on the pitch runs on to a ball from dunnage and OH MY! What a finish! Witham 1-0 up and it's none other than yours truly. The celebrations were shortly cut short however as unfortunately Ash went down injured and Witham were down to 11. Despite relentless defensive efforts Saffron Walden had an equaliser before the break. The second half pushed back and Witham had fallen asleep and due to a lack of legs in the midfield ( sorry) Saffron Walden took the lead. Shortly after an unfortunate defensive blunder led to the opposition extending their lead to 3-1.
A disappointing result but I solid effort from all and a hard fought battle but unlucky in the end.
