It was a bright, blustery day, and the young Witham team were very excited. They were going to play hockey against Crostyx — a team full of big, grown‑up players who had been playing since before Peppa was even born!
The whistle blew, and off everyone went!
?️ A Tricky Start
Witham found themselves stuck in their own half. The Crostyx players were swooshing and zooming around like Daddy Pig trying to find the TV remote. Sam M, Oscar, and James Burns were very busy indeed, blocking, tackling, and trying to sneak the ball through tiny gaps.
In goal, Jon Joyce had to make some very important saves. One shot drifted past the post so slowly that Jon nearly fell over watching it.
Silly Jon!
?️ Witham Fight Back
Even though it was still 0–0, the Witham midfield started to wake up like George Pig after a nap.
Harry, Fish, and Louie began finding space, and with the help of the speedy wingers — Austin, Teddy, and Callum — they pushed the ball all the way up to Nemo and Ross.
They even won some short corners! The Crostyx goalkeeper suddenly had something to think about. Oh my!
⚽ A Clever Goal
Both teams were defending very well. Burnsy even cleared a shot right off the line — hooray!
Then Fish flicked a clever aerial pass over everyone’s heads. It floated down to Ross, who calmly tapped it in.
“1–0 to Witham!”
Everyone cheered. Even Daddy Pig would have been proud.
? The Bump
The second half began just like the first… until Teddy Youngman decided to try a science experiment.
“What happens,” he wondered, “if I run into Oscar at full speed?”
The answer was: a very bloody nose. Poor Teddy!
He didn’t enjoy the experiment very much, but he did win Dick of the Day. Peppa thinks that’s a very funny prize.
? The Pressure Builds
Crostyx kept attacking and won lots of short corners. But Witham defended bravely.
Burnsy made another magical clearance, Ross and Sam blocked shots, and Jon made more saves in goal.
But with only five minutes left… disaster!
A Crostyx striker hit the ball hard, and this time Burnsy couldn’t stop it.
“1–1!” gasped the crowd.
? The Late Twist
Witham’s young players pushed forward, trying to score again. But the clever, experienced Crostyx team pinched the ball, zoomed down the pitch, and scored…
…then scored again.
“3–1 to Crostyx.”
? Proud Piggies
Even though the score didn’t go their way, the young Witham team played brilliantly. They worked hard, never gave up, and gave the grown‑ups a real scare.
And as Peppa Pig would say:
“Playing your best and having fun is what matters most. Snort!”
